Recently, the college began updating pages on www.pcc.edu. The new template was created to improve the experience for users visiting on a mobile device. Now, it’s time to bring these features to other sites, including the college blogs.
On the surface
The look has been cleaned up and modernized a bit. However, the content and navigation will remain almost identical to the previous version of the site. You should still be able to easily find what you are looking for.
One exception is the post title (for example: Responsive update on this page), which has been moved closer to the page content. This frees up space to include the title of the blog on the top of every page. Together, these changes should help viewers feel more confident about where they are in your site.
Under the hood
The administrative interface for WordPress has been responsive since version 3.8 – you should be able to easily edit and update posts from a phone. In addition, we plan to make a few small changes to help everything work better in the new template.
For example, you may notice that the default image sizes have changed… By using 25, 50, or 100% images you are allowing the image to stretch and shrink for different screen sizes. This makes the pages look good, whether your users on on a desktop, tablet, or phone. Of course, the thumbnail and full versions of the images are also available if you need to use them.
Addition changes will be blogged about as they become available.
