The Community-Based Learning Program is hiring Community Engagement Advocates!

Community-Based Learning (CBL), in partnership with Passion Impact and the Financial Aid Work Study Program, is hiring Community Engagement Advocates for Spring 2017. These work study positions are currently available at Cascade Campus and Sylvania Campus!

Work Study Job Description

Work Schedule: Students will have flexibility to choose what days work best, but they must:

  • have availability between the hours of 11am-2pm at least once a week (M-TH)
  • attend a weekly CEA Meeting (Monday 3pm-4pm at Cascade or Thursday 10:30am-11:30am at Sylvania)

Hours per Week: 6-8

Wage/Salary: $12

Work Site Location: PCC Campus (Cascade or Sylvania; minimum of 4 hrs/week) and a Community Organization (minimum of 2hrs/week)

I. Serve as a representative of Passion Impact, PCC Community Based Learning, and PCC Federal Work Study

II. Research opportunities for community engagement

  • 2 hrs/week of working with a community organization in a volunteer capacity
  • Document and share experience (informal: reflection; formal: social media, blog posts, XRay PSA, etc..)

III. Outreach to PCC students and share information about Community Engagement Opportunities which include, but are not limited to, CBL courses, Community Service Work Study (CSWS) positions, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Participate in on campus tabling, speaking to classes/student organizations, and student panels
  • Collect and enter student contact information into database

IV. Assist with other projects including, but not limited to:

  • Passion Impact events and activities
  • CBL events and activities

Qualifications:

  • Financial Aid package includes Federal Work Study Award
  • Minimum of 6 credit course load at PCC
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Commitment to work the entire Spring term

Desire to serve the community; Self-motivated; Reliable; Strong Verbal and Written Communication; Public Speaking; Outreach; Recruitment; Planning; Timely follow-through on tasks; Ability to communicate program goals and processes clearly; Microsoft Office; Google Applications (Gmail, Gcal, Google Docs/Drive)
