MakerSpace hits the road with “Chess for Success” all-girls tourney

MakerSpace duo Cece Cutsforth and Gregg Meyer took their maker show on the road to Tobias Elementary in Aloha last weekend to support “Chess for Success’s” all-girls tournament. In all, 93 girls aged 7-12 participated in the competition and kept running back to the 3D printer and vinyl cutter between every round (they *promised* not to intensionally throw their games). The kids went crazy over making customized chess piece stickers while 3D printing crazy mashups of chess pieces like “The Krook”, half Knight and half Rook with super knockdown powers.

PCC offers this limited open forum as an extension of the respectful, well-reasoned discourse we expect in our classroom discussions. As such, we welcome all viewpoints, but monitor comments to be sure they stick to the topic and contribute to the conversation. We will remove them if they contain or link to abusive material, personal attacks, profanity, off-topic items, or spam. This is the same behavior we require in our hallways and classrooms. Our online spaces are no different.
